Ezra Dyckman, for more than 15 years, has concentrated on the taxation of real estate transactions, working with clients on the acquisition of properties through complex like-kind exchanges, and advising REITs on their operations and acquisitions and dispositions of properties. His focus on the tax issues involved in restructuring and dividing partnership assets has enabled him to structure a variety of tax-efficient partnership transactions, including sales of partial interests, mergers, split-ups and various forms of workout transactions, including cancellation of indebtedness and lender issues. He co-authors a bi-monthly column on Real Estate Taxation in the New York Law Journal. He also has extensive experience advising hedge funds with respect to fund investments and day-to-day operations across various areas, including, FIRPTA, dividend withholding, and the provisions that govern financial instruments. Synthesizing his knowledge of the areas of flow-through entity taxation with financial products has enabled him to add value from both a management and investor viewpoint. He received a B.A. magna cum laude from Yeshiva University and his J.D. from Columbia University, where he was a James Kent Scholar and recipient of the James A. Elkins Prize in Criminal Law.
