Nancy Chassman represents clients in all stages of tax controversy - from audits through appellate litigation. She handles international, federal and state and local tax matters. With a practice focused on federal tax controversy, she has exceptional experience in international taxation, insurance and financial services industry matters. Ms. Chassman also advises business clients on the management of global tax controversy and tax risk.
Before joining Roberts & Holland LLP, Nancy served as the global head of tax controversy for a multinational insurance company, where she was responsible for the company’s worldwide tax audits and tax litigation.
She has handled a broad spectrum of complex tax controversies, such as matters involving foreign tax credits, transfer pricing, financial products, insurance, and changes in accounting method. Nancy has over 25 years of experience in the field of tax controversy, including experience in a big four accounting firm and as a senior trial attorney for the U.S. Chief Counsel’s Office of the Internal Revenue Service. She has spoken in the U.S. and internationally on tax controversy matters. She was shortlisted by Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Americas Women in Business Law Awards for “Best in Tax Dispute Resolution,” 2017 and 2018.
Nancy received a B.A. and B.S. from Boston University, a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
